30 Days of Blake, Day 1

So, I am officially doing the 30 Days of Any TV Show Meme. Today's topic is "what you wish happened."

JENNA: Maybe some dreams are worth having.
AVON: You don't really believe that.
JENNA: No, but I'd like to.



There are so many "what ifs" for this show. What if Blake had stayed? What if Jenna had? What if Blake hadn't died? Really, I wouldn't change a thing. For me, B7 is the perfect show...to write fan fiction about. It's not perfect, but the way it opens up possibilities and makes me want more couldn't be improved on. Anything I don't like is trivial enough to brush under the rug, and not worth wasting a wish wishing it had happened differently.

I love both believing and not believing B7 ended how it did. I wouldn't trade the ending we have for a happier one, even though I love B7 happy endings. The only thing I might ask for would be a slightly more ambiguous death for Blake, so that the PGPs could feel just a little more plausible.

As far as my ideal PGP scenario, it's Avon and Blake, reconciled, going off into the sunset (metaphorically, probably) together to fight the Federation.

this is a very nice answer - and a particularly good first answer for the meme. in which you say - this is a great show! mostly. but even the bad bits are good.

i kind of agree about the ambiguous death for blake, but i assume i'd find it just as unconvincing if he got obviously shot and then got up. so, he might as well be covered in blood, because he's just as dead as dayna (which is dead), but whatevs. it's just fun.

p.s. i probably would rather than some things hadn't happened. like... if avon could never have said that he was a man and that meant he would always win against pella... that would have been better. and if gareth's hair had been longer in the second half of series 2 then there would be NOTHING bad about gambit at all :p

Yeah, I have no problem with stories that don't try to find a way to bring them back convincingly, but it would still be nice. If I could have anything. Just a sliver of ambiguity.

Also, yeah, Avon in Power is bad. Easy to ignore, but bad. I don't really mind Blake's hair, but where is the fic where Avon's like "mmmm you should keep your hair longer"?

i don't know, but it's a good point!

i wonder if he feels traumatised by the beard too. in a PGP world where blake forgets to shave for a few days, and avon ends up locked in a cupboard and trying not to cry (sorry - i just ruined it for you there. it was sexy and now it is traumatic).

I think even PGP, Avon would enjoy the opportunity to add a few more counts to the indictment: "That plan is a poor use of limited fuel supplies! You don't have adequate intelligence analysis about the rebelliousness of the local people! The mission team doesn't include anyone who speaks their language! And your beard stubble doesn't look tough, it looks ridiculous!"
